Ojas Choksi
ATIS – MVP Principal Technologist
As the principal technologist for ATIS’ MVP Initiative, Ojas Choksi directs a select group of system developers and operators to define a common set of baseline capabilities to accelerate and simplify the deployment of Open RAN technology within North America.
Ojas has more than 30 years of technology leadership experience assisting mobile operators, equipment suppliers and R&D labs in developing and deploying technology strategies and architectures and designs for radio, transport and core mobile network infrastructure from 1G to 5G. In this area, he has developed infrastructure RFPs and RFP responses, selected vendors and developed contractual exhibits, performing network audits as well as participated in standards bodies such as 3GPP and ITU on his clients’ behalf. He was instrumental in introducing satellite-related use cases at 3GPP as part of 5G that led to the successful development of non-terrestrial network specifications in 3GPP Release 17.
Ojas has played an active role as a starting employee and co-founder of mobile infrastructure start-ups in developing and leading proof of concepts for customers to demonstrate the benefits of emerging, innovative products and solutions. He has assisted numerous management consulting and private equity firms with their technology and investment due diligence efforts. He holds an MBA from University of Texas in Dallas and an MS in Electrical Engineering from Rutgers University in New Jersey, where he was actively involved in wireless R&D at WINLAB.
Iain Sharp
ATIS – Principal Technologist
Iain Sharp started his career in mobile standards by contributing to the definition of GSM Phase 1. Since then he has been involved with every generation and has served as Vice-Chair of 3GPP CT Plenary. Iain is currently Principal Technologist at the North American 3GPP Organizational Partner ATIS and manages the interface between ATIS and 3GPP. Iain has a degree in Electronics and Information Sciences from the University of Cambridge.
